I wrote this neat little article for n00bs that would like to create games for Windows and the Xbox360 using the XNA Framework, it’s actually aimed at those who have very little programming experience. Since Object-Oriented Programming has become pretty much a standard for real software developers and engineers, game development is no exception. However, most beginners tend to get scared and/or confused with this simple paradigm that’s actually designed to make your coding EASIER.
So go ahead! Download it! This tutorial will guide you step by step through the basic principles of the XNA Framework while learning OOP, by the end of it, you’ll create a simple shooter game engine. This article was also featured in ziggyware.com.
If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, let me refer to an older post, XNA is a collection of tools developed by Microsoft for developing games for the Xbox 360 and Windows, all you need is either Visual C# Express 2008, which is free, or Visual Studio 2008, which is expensive, and of course, XNA Game Studio Express 3.0, which is also free. Have fun!
Aside all the coding I’ve been doing I found some time to begin working on new stuff for EPAC 2009. I had fun with this, tried out my new tablet, it was quickly drawn but good practice before doing the good stuff.
If you have any suggestions for liable new artworks by all means please comment! By the way, we are almost done with Arrows it’s coming along FANTASTICLY, we’re coding finishing touches on the Multiplayer Mode and after that, it’s porting to the Xbox 360’s Community Games, so be sure to check back.
Seriously, 4 campaigns, but you just can’t get tired of this, even the almighty Hideo Kojima admitted being addicted to this game, so why was GTA4 GOTY? Politics. It’s all politics.
Truly a masterpiece that transcends time, my favorite RPG and possibly game, I can’t express with words how happy I am to be playing this again in a new generation portable console. I hope that those that haven’t had the chance to pick up this game do, you can’t call yourself an expert on the RPG genre if you haven’t played this.
In america we got an extra CD with the game called Chrono Trigger Orchestra Extra Soundtrack where the great composer Yasunori Mitsuda revamped the theme and a medley of the classic tracks from the game. I really want to share this with the fans, so go ahead and download them, (Right Click + Save As)
So the day came and it went, I bought stuff that I could’ve gotten any other day, but hey, the thrill of living like a hobo! Am I right? Anyways, I got a Zune, so I’ll be programming for that real soon, but I’m really happy because I finally have my Bamboo Wacom Tablet, it’s sweeeet~ Can’t wait to start drawing again!
This video was created by the photographer Robbie Cooper for The New York Times. We all have our gamer faces, we just don’t realize it. The video showcases the various faces kids make when they play, they are all different, from the entranced, the joyful and the bored. One even cries a little, yet again, he wasn’t blinking, most of them weren’t, I don’t blame them though, I don’t blink when I play RPGs.
Now, this is why I like Microsoft, they are just doing so many good things lately (Let us ignore Vista for now) XNA Game Studio 3.0 expands on all the offerings of earlier iterations to include additional functionality to appeal to game developers of every level and enable them to create games to distribute through Xbox LIVE Community Games on the Xbox 360 as part of the New Xbox Experience.
But that’s not all! Besides developing games for the Xbox 360 and Windows PC you can now deploy to Zune! Which of course means, I must get one! The iPod SDK is just too damn expensive!
Ok, so still no Zone of the Enders 3 for PS3, but no matter, good news keeps popping out from the event, first of all, yes, if you heard this already I don’t care, but wow, it’s a bombshell for guys at Sony and a winrar situation for Microsoft and apparently Squeenix too…Xbox 360 will be getting a Final Fantasy, that’s right Final Fantasy XIII in America for the Xbox 360!! Watch the new trailer:
Amongst other news revealing a new Halo game in the works, besides the long awaited Halo Wars, a tad overlooked would be the remake of a wonderful classic, Kirby Super Star! This time of course for the Nintendo DS.
Kirby Super Star Ultra (a remake of the ultraless SNES game) is scheduled for a September 22 release.
Super Star Ultra will feature all of the original game’s modes, plus “new adventures,” including three, touch-controlled minigames (Kirby Card Swipe, Kirby on the Draw and Snack Tracks) that support up to 4 players via DS Download Play. With multiple cartridges, two players can play the adventure mode, with one assuming the roles of “Helpers,” clones of Kirby’s foes created with a new ability. Kirby Super Star Ultra Screenshot-o!
